Emraan Hashmi on doing mediation daily

When asked if mediation helps him centre and play a certain role, the Tiger 3 actor said, “Of course, I know that my performance and my mental game are way stronger since I started meditating. And I can sense the razor-sharp focus towards my acting skill set. I’ve seen that as a huge difference, and it’s very important. It’s all about concentration. Of course, emotions are one thing, but you have to do a lot of things in a scene. You have to make it interesting, you have to make it entertaining. You can learn the skill set required for acting, like how to use light, where the mark is, and different technicalities.

But every actor has a different approach to a scene and how they say the dialogue. I think that has a lot to do with your personality and the way you’ve seen films and life. But concentration is also very important. You have to be at your A-game when you’re doing a scene. You have to be all there otherwise the lines seem empty.

Emraan Hashmi talks about taking a character home

When asked if he believes in method acting or does he take the characters home, he said, “I probably have taken things home occasionally. And sometimes you don’t even realize it. When you’re doing a scene where you had a very stressful day on the shoot because the character you’re playing and the scenes are highly emotional or there’s a lot of rage in it then I have taken back. I probably haven’t been aware that I’ve done it, but later on, when I reflect on that, I do take it back. Because if you’re on set for 12 hours and you’re completely immersed in that emotion, you are human. You can switch off obviously when the camera shuts off; you’re not yelling at people on set. But suddenly, in your life, there might be things or you might react more impulsively if you’ve played that character. I don’t know, but taking that rage for weeks afterward. Maybe some actors do it. Everyone has their own process.”
